Tall Crystal and Silver Scent Bottle, 1911. Perfume bottle, with a hallmark for London 1911. Maker: H & S. Tall waisted shape, made in cut crystal with a sterling silver rim . Measures approx. 19 cm high and 6.3 cm diameter at the base (7.1/2 inches by 2.1/2 inches). The bottle and stopper are both in excellent condition with the only damage being inside the neck, hidden by the silver band. This sort of damage frequently occurs as the stopper is banged into the neck and the continuing impacts causes damage to the glass.

The collar has a few dents at the rim, and there are a few very, very small frits to the edge of the crystal. No stopper. Could make a pretty little posy vase for a dressing table. Measures 7cm (2.3/4 inches) high and 5cm (2 inches) diameter.
This item came from the Wagener Museum here in Northland, New Zealand.

2352

Silver Encased Perfume Bottle, 1898. A sterling silver cased bottle - it is a glass bottle with a little pewter topped cork stopper, with an elaborate cut work silver casing. The silver is open work acanthus scrolls and flowers. It carries an English hallmark for Birmingham 1898. Maker’s stamp is A.W.P.
The presentation panel is engraved with the beautifully detailed initials “E.N.” (Or “N.E.” depending on which way you think it goes). There are some faults - there are a few dents in the silver, and areas of loss to the silver, one very small area by the hallmark, and a larger area to the bottom left of the presentation panel. However, because of the busyness on the design, these are not glaringly obvious. The cork is pewter topped, and a little misshapen. This is a very pretty little bottle from an old family estate. Measures 13cm high (5.1/4 inches) and 5cm diameter (2 inches).

3078

Doubled Ended Ruby Glass Scent Bottle. A Victorian period double-ended scent or perfume bottle, in ruby glass. Would date circa 1890. Measures 10.5cm long (4.1/2 inches) and 3 diameter (3/4 inch). Octagonal glass body, with brass end caps. The end caps were probably once gilded brass, but are duller now. The bottle is a good weight, and inside each little hinged lid, the bottles have glass stoppers, and there is old cotton wadding inside the lids. The stoppers are both different, one having a flat sided long finial, and the other having a rounded small finial. I think this is so you can tell which perfume is in which end. Very good condition all round.

7301

Crystal Perfume Bottle, Silver Collar, 1902 An Edwardian-period large rectangular clear crystal scent bottle with star decoration to the front and rear panels, a sterling silver collar and fancy stopper. The silver is hallmarked for Birmingham (England) 1902. Engraved in the silver on the neck is the inscription “Mother”, and underneath this “28.8.15” Perhaps this was once a present for the giver’s mother. Maybe her birthday was on the 28th of August. Height 16cm (6.1/4 inches ) width 2.1/2 inches (6.3cm) and depth 1.3/4 inches (4.5cm). In very good condition overall. There are a few of the usual minor dents about the silver collar-top where the stopper hits it, a very small nibble on one corner of the underneath base, and small chips to the bottom of the stopper where it sits inside the neck of the flask and at the apex of the stopper. None of this is particularly noticeable, and overall this bottle is a very charming and elegant shape.
