Plain Steel Buttonhook.
A vintage plain steel buttonhook - would date from 1900-1920. Measures 11.25cm (4.1/2 inches) long. Good sound condition, but steel has usual minor bloom and spots - would probably clean up well with fine wire wool.

Victorian Bone and Organza Fan.
An elegant and very plain, large, Victorian period fan - the end pieces and sticks are bone, and the fabric is very fine cream organza. The little loop handle is a lovely snakeskin pattern, and the sticks where you hold them are beautifully cut "squiggle" shaped. Fan measures 35 cm long (13.3/4 inches) not including the suspension loop, and opened it measures 63 cm across (24.3/4 inches). Excellent condition.

Pair Vintage Silver Filigree Buckles.
Two 1920s or 30s silver coloured filigree buckles - they are made in Czechoslovakia, as was so much excellent costume jewellery of this period. Each buckle is set with four coloured glass stones - although one has been replaced with a lustre rhinestone. Each buckle measures 5 cm by 2.9 cm (2 inches by 1.1/8 inches). Very unusual, and a great addition to any collection.
Circa: 1920s
Condition: Very good

Livery Buttons, Crested, Five.
Five old livery buttons - worn by servants on their livery, and bearing the crest of the household (Lion Rampant over bar in this case). Fronts are silvered metal, and the rear of the buttons are coppery looking. They are stamped with the maker’s name: "R.E.Hayward, 21 Bouverie St, London". Buttons are 26 mm diameter (1 inch) and have loop backs. We have 5 smaller identical buttons for sale elsewhere in this category. Excellent condition. These buttons came out with one of the first Wanganui families here in New Zealand, who intended to recruit household servants from amongst the local population. However, the Maoris turned out to be not very servile, in fact outright against the idea, and they were never used.
Circa: Late 19th Century
Condition: Excellent

Six old Livery Buttons, Crested.
Six old livery buttons - worn by servants on their livery, and bearing the crest of the household (Lion Rampant over bar in this case). Fronts are silver plate, and the rear of the buttons are coppery looking. They are stamped with the maker’s name: "Nortzell & Son, London". Buttons are 16 mm diameter (11/16 inch) and have loop backs. We have 5 larger identical buttons for sale elsewhere in this category. Excellent condition. These buttons came out with one of the first Wanganui families here in New Zealand, who intended to recruit household servants from amongst the local population. However, the Maoris turned out to be not at all servile, in fact outright very against the notion, and so they were never used.

A large heavy metal belt buckle - the design is a spray of flowers in rather an Art Nouveau style. The rear of the buckle has a small round coin-like plaque with "Napoleon Empereur" around it. There is also an ornate circular disc with entwined initials - these are probably maker’s marks, but I don’t know whose. Buckle measures 6.5cm by 6cm (2.9/16 inch by 2.3/8 inch). Excellent condition.

Three Edwardian Buttons, Photos of Women.
Three celluloid-fronted man’s buttons, with photos of women on them . And I don’t think they’re his mum and his sisters either. These must have been the buttons of a single lad-about-town in the Edwardian period, circa 1901-1910. Each measures 13 mm diameter (1/2 inch). The backs are gilded metal with loop. Excellent condition.
Circa: Circa 1900-1910
