1930s Celluloid Brush in Holder. Handpainted flowers decorated this quaint little celluloid case - inside is a nailbrush with green bristles with a clear amber celluloid backing to run your nails against. Case measures
8 cm by 3 cm and 1.1 cm thick (3.1/8 inches by 1.3/16 inch by 7/16 inch). Very good original condition.

Orange Bead Hatpin. Hatpin measuring 15.3 cm long (6 inches) - brass or goldtone pin with various types of beads in the orange/amber tonings for the finial. It comes with an end cap. Excellent condition.

Victorian Bone Scrimshaw Manicure Tool. Tiny little scrimshaw manicure tool - iron file in middle of rear side, cuticle pusher at one end, and nail parer at other. The scrimshaw is a bird with a letter in its beak, with two little motifs at either end. Made by a sailor for his sweetheart - maybe the bird with a letter is a reminder for her to write to him. Measures 65 mm by 7 mm (2.1/2 inches by 1/4 inch). Excellent condition, just a little normal bloom on the iron. 19th century.

Sterling Silver Hair Brush, Chester 1914. Sterling silver backed hairbrush, with pretty floral and scroll embossed design. Hallmarked for Chester, 1914. Maker’s mark is J & RG (Joseph and Richard Griffin). Also carries a registration number. Brush measures 26.5 cm long and 8 cm wide (10.1/2 inches by just over 3 inches). The silver is in very good condition, but the bristles are very worn on the front area. Once, you were able to buy new wooden brush inserts for these silver-backed sets - I’m not sure if one still can do this. Very decorative anyway, would look beautiful sitting on a dressing table.

Folding Nail Scissors Penknife, Edwardian. Unusual penknife - made with celluloid panels to the handles, in each handle is a pull out blade - one blade is actually a nail file, the other is an ordinary knife blade. The scissors are nail scissors. The handles fold down concealing the scissors, and the handles clip together at the top. Closed, this item measures just over 6 cm long (2.3/8 inches). Excellent condition, a few little age spots on the metal but only very minor. Early 20th century.

Early 20th Century Mourning Hatpin, Black. Black mourning hatpin - black bead finial and steel shaft. Pin measures 9 cm long (3.1/2 inches). Bead is 7 mm diameter (1/4 inch). Some small corrosion spots to the shaft bottom, but overall in excellent condition.

Hatpin, Brown and Gold Cone Shape. 1950s hat pin with a cone shaped top in gold and brown. Hatpin measures 14 1 cm long (5.1/2 inches). A few spots to the metal, otherwise excellent.

Ming Blue Pearl Hatpin. Vintage hat pin, with the top being a pear-shaped ming-blue fake pearl. Hat pin measure 10.6 cm long (4.3/16 inch). There is an area of loss to the colour on the pearl, but otherwise very good condition.

Large Angel’s Heads Sterling Silver Mirror Angel’s heads embossed in sterling silver form the pattern for this large size English-made hand mirror. Hallmarks are for Birmingham 1908, so Edwardian period. Maker’s mark is W.D. This matches a salts bottle and a button hook we have elsewhere on this site.
Condition is overall very very good - there is a little bit of crushed silver on the very tip of the handle, and some minor crushing to edges - all confined to the very extreme of the edges, and not visible from either side. The glass has a few minor sratches, but no loss of silvering. Mirror measures 28.75 cm long (11.1/4 inches) and 16 cm wide (6.1/4 inches).

Edwardian Hatpin, Very Long, Gold, Turquoise. A pretty hat pin, measuring 17.3 cm long (6.3/4 inches). The head is double sided, rose gold with a little turquoise bead set centrally. The steel shaft has a little discolouration, otherwise in excellent condition.

Sterling Silver Hairbrush & Hand Mirror Set. Vintage set of hand mirror and hair brush - Maker’s mark is Birks. Sterling. All in very good condition, except that the mirror has foxing. You can still see yourself quite clearly, but there is foxing. Good heavy weight, bevelled glass. Mirror measures 32 cm by 13 cm, and the brush is 25 cm by 7 cm (12.1/2 inches by 5 inches, and 9.3/4 inches by just under 3 inches). Either from the USA or Canada. Early to mid 20th century.

Green Bead Hatpin. A vintage hat pin - a green plastic bead measuring 1cm diameter (3/8 inch) on a long metal pin. Hatpin measures a total of 11cm long (4.1/4 inches). Very good condition. A few dark patches on the pin, but quite smooth. Probably 1930s.  

Sterling Silver 3 items for Manicure. English sterling silver Edwardian period manicure trio, hallmarked for Birmingham 1902. Maker’s mark: L & S. They each measure 12 cm long (4.3/4 inches).

Very pretty handles with foliate scrolls, in excellent condition. Good Sheffield steel rods for the operative ends. The nail file even has an indented ridge on the sides of the blade for doing the tops of your nails. The steel has a little dark bloom in places, but is in very good condition. Very attractive set from 1902.
