C9689

Vintage Car Mascot, Flying Lady. Old chromed car bonnet mascot - a naked woman, in much the same pose as the Spirit of Ecstasy (Rolls Royce icon ) except there are no wings/drapery. Very Art Deco - her hair is in a bun at the rear, and the side pieces fly out like wings. Screw fitting for attachment.
She measures about 14 cm high to the bonnet level, and 12.5 cm long (5.1/2 inches by 5 inches). Basically in good sound condition, and nicely modelled - she has some marks and the very tips of her fingers on one hand have been broken, although this has been ground smooth. Her nose is a little snub. The chrome is worn where her legs would sit on the bonnet of the car. She has what seems to be the letter P 5 incised on her left shoulder (in the mould). Very striking item!
Circa: 1920s plus
Condition: Very Good - see description

2449

Hammered Pewter Bowl, Arts and Crafts. A pewter bowl, with hammered finish and crimped edges. Quite heavy, no maker’s marks, and, unusually, it is also beaten on the underneath. Very Arts and Crafts in style, and possibly in period. Inside has a few rusty-coloured marks, but these are probably not permanently in the pewter, they would be stains from flower water, and should clean off with CLR or similar products. (Which I will do if I ever get the time!).
This is a lovely little bowl, suitable for fruit or as a float bowl. It measures 19cm diameter (7.1/2 inches) and 8cm high (3.1/8 inches). Excellent condition, apart from the inside stains, which are really minor.
Circa: 1910-1920s
Condition: Very Good - see description

4382A

Small Kitsch 1930s Pin Dish, Pewter. A round pin dish - beaten metal (probably pewter) applied to a wooden base, with a painted blue pansy decoration. This type of craftwork was very popular in the 1920s and 30s, and much of it was made at home. We see wall plaques, pin dishes, powder bowls and candlesticks all decorated in a similar manner. This little sweetie is 12.25cm diameter (4.3/4 inches). You can also repaint the wood and pansy a different colour if wished.
Circa: 1930s
Condition: Very Good - used

C8511

Set 8 Metal and Ceramic Drawer Handles. 8 drawer pulls - each is 12.75 cm wide ( 5 inches) and 1.9 cm deep (3/4 inch). They stand out by about 1 inch from the drawer surface. Metal looks sort of brassy, but it’s not brass. The centre ceramic section is a beige colour. These are quite some years old but stamped on the rear is "Taiwan". They are all in very good used condition (i.e. metal is rather dull) and there is just one which has a tiny short hairline on the ceramic bit - but it is quite sound, and only mentioned for accuracy On one, the ceramic part could do with regluing to the metal rod.
Circa: 1970s?

3718

Oriental Antimony Inkwell. A small inkwell, probably Japanese, but could be Chinese. It is made in the metal antimony, and decorated with a beautiful pattern of chrysanthemums in high relief. The lid hinges open to reveal a white glass inkwell liner. The liner has a sort of chip on the inner rim (see photo) - it’s not at all sharp, rather rounded in fact, could be old, or in the manufacture, as the glass is moulded , and quite crude. Inkwell measures 6cm x 5cm (2.3/8 inches x 2.1/8 inches). About 3cm high (1.1/4 inches). It is in very good condition although there is an ink stain under the lid (which may well clean off). Probably dates from 1920s-50s. Airmail Post to North America: US$6.75.
Circa: Early 20th century

C7209

Vintage Coal Filled Iron. Large steel vintage iron, which has an opening top. You place hot coals inside, and this heats the bottom ironing surface. Wooden handle. Maker’s stamps are: "Special Asia. 10." and "Tested".
It measures about 19 cm high, 20 cm long and 16 cm wide, so quite a big iron. (7.1/2 inches by 8 inches by 6.1/4 inches). Steel has some light surface rust - would clean off with elbow power. Wooden handle has a split off one end on top, but doesn’t effect use. Good decorative item . Ideal door stop!
