2449

Hammered Pewter Bowl, Arts and Crafts. A pewter bowl, with hammered finish and crimped edges. Quite heavy, no maker’s marks, and, unusually, it is also beaten on the underneath. Very Arts and Crafts in style, and possibly in period. Inside has a few rusty-coloured marks, but these are probably not permanently in the pewter, they would be stains from flower water, and should clean off with CLR or similar products. (Which I will do if I ever get the time!).
This is a lovely little bowl, suitable for fruit or as a float bowl. It measures 19cm diameter (7.1/2 inches) and 8cm high (3.1/8 inches). Excellent condition, apart from the inside stains, which are really minor.
Circa: 1910-1920s
Condition: Very Good - see description

4382A

Small Kitsch 1930s Pin Dish, Pewter. A round pin dish - beaten metal (probably pewter) applied to a wooden base, with a painted blue pansy decoration. This type of craftwork was very popular in the 1920s and 30s, and much of it was made at home. We see wall plaques, pin dishes, powder bowls and candlesticks all decorated in a similar manner. This little sweetie is 12.25cm diameter (4.3/4 inches). You can also repaint the wood and pansy a different colour if wished.
Circa: 1930s
Condition: Very Good - used

3718

Oriental Antimony Inkwell. A small inkwell, probably Japanese, but could be Chinese. It is made in the metal antimony, and decorated with a beautiful pattern of chrysanthemums in high relief. The lid hinges open to reveal a white glass inkwell liner. The liner has a sort of chip on the inner rim (see photo) - it’s not at all sharp, rather rounded in fact, could be old, or in the manufacture, as the glass is moulded , and quite crude. Inkwell measures 6cm x 5cm (2.3/8 inches x 2.1/8 inches). About 3cm high (1.1/4 inches). It is in very good condition although there is an ink stain under the lid (which may well clean off). Probably dates from 1920s-50s. Airmail Post to North America: US$6.75.
Circa: Early 20th century
Condition: Very Good - See description

Click for more detail...
C7439

Victorian Sad Iron, Three Bases. Vintage steel sad irons - wooden handle still in good working order. It clips onto its various bases - there are two number "2" bases, stamped with the maker’s name Taylor Forbes Ltd, Guelph. Canada.
The third base has shaped or worn heel, and appears to be a brass-coloured metal, possibly bronze. It is smaller, and unmarked. Larger bases measure 17.5 cm long (just under 7 inches), and the smaller measures 16 cm (6.1/4 inches) long, and has a rather loose top - may need screwing up, there are large screws there. The Canadian bases show some surface rust, but nothing serious - one has rust under the handle clip area, but this would not effect ironing. All very heavy!
Circa: Late 19th to Early 20th Century
Condition: Very Good - See Description
