0027
Early 19th Century Spill Vase. Unfortunately this lovely little porcelain vase has many faults, but I’m putting it up on this site regardless, as the hand-painted panels are so lovely. It is very rococo in shape, with gilding to raised detail. It has a self pattern of shell surmounted panels, acanthus scroll edges and feet. One side has a panel of hand-painted flowers, and the other has a delightful tiny hand-painted panel of a gentleman in a wig, with red jacket and green trousers, standing in a small landscape. He has red/white horizontally striped stockings. The vase measures 9cm high (3.1/2 inches) and 8cm wide (3.1/8 inches). It is 5cm deep (2 inches). The floral panel side is intact, but both the side panels have lost their shell tops. The side with the little scene has also had its shell pediment chipped off, and has lost the shell at the centre of the base. No cracks. No maker’s mark. Would probably date around 1800 to 1820. In spite of the damage, a very charming piece of porcelain.

1694
Georgian Period Plate, Handpainted Cow Scene Pretty early 19th century Georgian period plate, with central hand painted decoration of a rural scene with cows. The border of the plate is blue with dark blue-outlined circles. Gilded edge. The plate has no maker’s name - although there are some underglaze impressed marks on the back. Unfortunately, they are not readable. There appears to be a small repaired rim chip (visible at the rear of the plate, or at least some over-painting of the white porcelain can be seen). Condition is very good for the age of nearly 200 years old - there are a couple of tiny rim nibbles, a few knife marks to the central picture, and a minor hairline at the rear. Plate measures 24 cm diameter (9.1/2 inches).
Circa: Early 19th Century - Georgian

Georgian Davenport Hunt Jug. A Georgian period Davenport hunting jug, squat baluster shape, white with brick red top. Impressed marks for the 1805 to 1820 period. Embossed sides show the hound pack with a fox that they have run to ground, and the horses standing as their riders scramble over a fence to join the hounds. The jug measures 18cm high (7 inches) and 23cm wide handle to spout (9 inches). In excellent condition - no chips or cracks - but there is some colour missing from the brick red painted top section.

8415
Early 19th Century Georgian Teacup and Saucer A Georgian period teacup and saucer with polychrome transfer chinoiserie decoration of two Oriental ladies with a male figure carrying a bouquet: “who is going to get the bouquet?”. Hand painted highlight colours. The backstamp is a D. surrounded by decoration - probably the mark of Thomas Dimmock (Jnr) and Co, of the Staffordshire Potteries, England. The pottery operated from 1828 to 1859. This would have been made in the early period. The saucer is deeply dished with no indentation, and measures 14cm (5.1/2 inches) diameter and 2.8cm high (just over 1 inch). The cup is 5.5cm (2.1/8 inches) high and is 9cm (3.1/2 inches ) diameter at the top. In very good condition.

7814
Early 19th Century Georgian Cup and Saucer. A Georgian period early English tea cup and saucer dish, painted in polychrome enamels with a mock Chinese design of flowers and figures on a terrace. The figures are two ladies and an attendant with a green parasol. The colours are pretty pinks and greens, with a flower in the bottom of the teacup. The deeply dished un-indented saucer is typical of the period. Unmarked. Possibly Hilditch, or could it be Ridgway? Would date circa 1800-1820. Pattern has printed outlines with hand colouring over. Measurements: Cup is 10cm wide (4 inches) handle to lip, and stands 5cm (2 inches) high. The saucer is 14cm (5.1/2 inches) diameter and stands 3cm (just over 1 inch) high. Condition: Saucer has a small (4mm long) scar on edge - not a chip, more a bit of missing glaze, otherwise in very good condition. Cup is in very good condition.

Pair of Copeland & Garrett Saucers, C1835 These Copeland and Garrett saucers are claret coloured, with floral and gilt decoration. Additional back mark is 5219 with a V. They are in the old style hand-wired plate-hangers. Each saucer is 6 inches in diameter, and just under 1 inch high. Body-wise, they are in very good condition, with no chips or cracks. The gilding over the maroon is very thick and rich, and the floral panels are enchanting in their detail. Some honourable wear to the claret background commensurate with the age of the saucers.

0649
Staffordshire Copper Lustre Teapot. A 19th century Staffordshire copper lustre teapot - this matches the jug we also have for sale here (Item No. 0377). The teapot has simple decoration in blue, white and yellow enamels of stylised flowers. It has a flower shaped finial to the lid, ornate body detailing to the handle and spout, and sits on four little feet. This is a good teapot for use or display - it has one small chip to the edge of the lid. However, it appears to have had some restoration to the lid and top of spout. (You can see a somewhat duller finish in the lustre here in the photos of those areas.) Teapot measures 10.1/4 inches wide, 7 inches high and 5.1/4 deep. (26cm x 18cm x 13cm). A pretty piece.

C8030
Asiatic Pheasant Blue and White Ashet. A large Staffordshire meat platter, or ashet, decorated with the famous Asiatic Pheasants design in pale blue. Very pretty antique plate, dating from Victorian times, can’t identify the pottery, as several potteries produced the Asiatic Pheasants design, among them. J. Reeves of Fenton, Staffordshire, Wedgwood & Co, and Wilemans.
Ashet measures 39.5 cm by 32.5 cm (15.1/2 inches by 12.3/4 inches).
It is in very good condition, having no chips or cracks (although there is a shallow nick off the foot rim underneath where a wire has caught it. Usual tripod marks from firing.
A very nice plate.

Click for more detail...
C5914
Ridgway Tea Set with Teapot. 19th Century. Made probably late 19th century, this is a beautiful part tea and coffee service, with 34 pieces in total. There are saucers, coffee cups, tea cups, a very large teapot, a cream jug and a slop bowl. There are also two cake serving plates. There is no maker’s mark except the pattern numbers, and these are in the Ridgway sequence for late 1840s plus. The mark is fractional, 5 over 134 for 5 of the saucers, and 5/143 for everything else. (Patterns are identical.) Lots of gilding and different pretty little flowers.
There is some pattern wear to some of the pieces. The most worn part of the pattern is the gilded leaf in the centre of all pieces, especially inside the cups, where this little motif in the bottom of the cup is often faded. Wear is always confined to the gilded outlines of the border patterns, mainly around the top bands.
Set has: 12 saucers. 9 tea cups, 7 coffee cups (slightly narrower than the tea cups, and have been used less, so are in excellent condition). 2 large cake plates 26cm wide (10 inches). Very large ornate lidded sugar bowl in the typical Ridgway style, measures approx 16cm high (6.1/4 inches) and 18cm wide (7 inches). Large slop bowl,17cm wide and 9.5cm high (6.3/4 inches by 3.3/4 inches). Beautiful ornate cream jug, 11cm by 14cm (4.1/4 inches by 5.1/2 inches). Very large ornate teapot with acanthus double leaves handle, and shaped foot - measures 29cm wide by 20cm high (about 11.1/2 inches by 8 inches). With the exception of the teapot lid, all the bone china is in excellent condition - no chips or cracks. The teapot lid has a very faint but clean hair crack, which can just be seen on the inside under strong light. A classically beautiful set.
Circa: 19th century Victorian.
Condition: Used, very good
