Carved Wooden Mask, Dutch East Indies. Large carved mask, intricate work. Mask has elaborate head-dress over face with protruding eyes and tusks that point upwards. Whole measures 51 cm high and 19 cm wide (about 20 inches by 7.1/2 inches). Carved from one piece of curved solid wood. Dutch East Indies, date unknown. Possibly early 20th century.

Lime Box, Cylindrical Carved Wood. Old carved wood lime box - cylinder with foot and lid, decorated with a tight pattern of dots shaped into sort of geometric hearts. The lid is a carved head with a collar. Box measures 15.5 cm high and 5.2 cm diameter (about 6 inches by 2 inches). (Lime boxes were used in mostly South East Asia, as lime is an ingredient used in betel nut chewing). Very good condition.

Carved Napkin Ring, Maori Motif. Vintage wooden napkin ring, carved with Maori motifs (New Zealand), including a tiki face with paua shell eyes. Mid 20th century folk art. Measures 4 cm high and 5.2 cm diameter (1.1/2 inches by 2.1/16 inches). Excellent condition.

Sino-Tibetan Silver & Cornelian Flint Burner. An unusual belt ornament, Sino-Tibetan in origin. It is made in silver, with a cornelian bead at the lower end. The shape is like a vase, with handles and pierced -work decoration of a bird in foliage on one side, and possibly a rat in a grape vine on the other. Bottom pulls out to reveal a tube with blackened metal wadding or flint in it. Suspended on a chain with a large hook to loop over a belt. Very nice work, with unusual decoration. The urn and ball bead measure 9 cm in length, and the suspension chain is another 11.5 cm including the hook (3.1/2 inches and 4.1/2 inches). Excellent condition.

Carved Maori Desk Stand, Maori Folk Art. Folk art desk stand with a ridge to hold a pen, and two slots for ink wells (no ink wells there though). Maori folk art carving, probably circa 1950s or earlier. The tiki heads have paua shell eyes.
Measurements: 30 cm wide, 13 cm deep and 3.75 cm high (11.3/4 inches by 5 inches and 1.3/8 inches high).
Condition: Very good, but has some old (dead & treated) borer holes and minor split. Unusual item for its kind.

African Pokerwork Panel Portrait, Circa 1920. Signed panel - poker work on box wood - portrait of a young African. Excellent detail, a really talented work, dating from circa 1920. The signature on the bottom is M.B. Panel measures 46 cm by 14.5 cm (18 inches by 5.5/8 inches). Very good condition. A few minor scratches commensurate with age, but nothing ugly or serious. Very evocative work.
