Edwardian Scrapbook, Cards, Advertising Cards
A scrapbook dating from about 1901 through to W.W.I, and containing items through the early to mid 20th century. It has a hard cover, embossed in gold with designs of flowers and motifs, and a central picture of a romantic German-style castle. Inside it has many greetings cards, mostly unused and glued to the pages so that they can be opened. Also cut-outs from fashion magazines, scraps and some sporting scraps, a couple of film stars, and two beautiful advertising cards for Kellogg’s cereals. These are strips with different heads, bodies and feet, which you turn to match up. One appears to be Australian, with drawings of koalas, emus and kangaroos, all dressed and speaking as people. The other is nursery characters, for Kellogg’s Pep Cereal. Album measures 36cm by 28cm (14 inches by 11 inches). Binding is in good condition, but inside the binding is loose. Pages are paper, and a little torn here and there. There are probably some missing. 18 pages in all. Charming relic of a bygone era.

Edwardian Greeting Card.
A lovely greeting card from the very early 20th century - circa 1900-1910. It shows two hands (male and female) clasped amidst a wreath of ivy and forget-me-nots and the words “Hearty Greeting”. The front panel unfurls away from the ivy rimmed embossed grey back panel, and inside is a paper card held in place with tasselled cord “To Greet you and wish you a bright Christmas Day”. There is a little poem inside, and the rear cover has “To Jane & Charly from Mary & Sam”. (Published by Davidson Bros, London, designed in England, printed in Saxony” is the credit at the bottom of the page). In very good original condition. Measures 14cm high (5.1/2 inches) and 9cm wide (3.5/8 inches).

Victorian Auckland Photo Book.
Old 19th century book - small format, measures 14 cm by 12 cm (5.1/2 inches by 4.3/4 inches). Embossed cover : Royal Album of Auckland and North Island Views". Inside are 12 pictures including two double spreads of Auckland from Mt Eden (totally unrecognisable with a massive Rangitoto in the background), and Government House, Auckland. Four more views of Auckland, then four of Rotorua, the Pink and White Terraces, and various Thermal pools, followed by White Island burning crater, Napier, scene of Wairau Massacre, scene of Mt Egmont. Then one of Wanganui bridge, and half a panorama of Wellington. There is a page missing, containing the other half of Wellington and something else.
Quite fascinating - condition is well used, with tape on the rear scenes, but the gloss monochromes are actually very good.
