Large Powder Horn. 19th century powder horn, made from a horn. (For carrying gunpowder to load a shotgun or rifle). Has pull out plug in tip end to pour out the powder, and both the tip and the other end have attachment for a cord or similar which would have enabled the user to carry this over his shoulder. The plug is a nicely carved piece of horn also. The far end has a wood end piece covered with red felt (worn) and a brass or copper plate with O ring. Horn is a large one, at about 35 cm wide (13.3/4 inches). Very good original condition - red felt is worn through, there are a few age scuffs on the horn itself, and a small split in the horn on the plug end - nothing serious, and doesn’t effect the use. Excellent piece of old history.

World War One Manual of Map Reading. Military Books - "a manual issued by command of the Army Council for the guidance of all concerned" , War Office, 1914. The Manual of Map Reading and Field Sketching. General Staff - War Office, London. First printed 1912 - reprinted with additions 1914 (at the outbreak of WW1). Hard Cloth cover, 101 pages with plates and pull outs, training maps England and Europe. Condition Basically very sound, some dog-ears to cover corners, some pencil writing in rear lists of books available, and on inside front cover - none in book itself. Book measures 18 cm by 13 cm and 1.3 cm thick (7 inches by 5 inches and 1/2 inch thick).

Trench Art Cigarette Lighter. Old brass flick lighter - trench art, made from shell casing. Pull out the base of the bottle, and the little flick lighter is revealed. Bottle is 7 cm long and 1.7 cm diameter (2.3/4 inches by 5/8 inch). A few old dents, but basically all sound.

P & O Ashtray, Royal Doulton. Vintage shipping ashtray with the P & O name inside. Made by Royal Doulton, bearing the Doulton, Lambeth, England impressed mark. This mark was used from the 1890s to 1956, so would guess the age at early to mid 20th century. Measures 2.8 cm high and 6.9 cm square (1.1/8 inches by about 2.3/4 inches). Very good condition. Glazed stoneware.

White Star Line Milk Glass Plate S.S. Oceanic Milk glass plate with border of Fleur de Lis and gold Eagles - also the White Star line’s flag. Centre if a picture titled S.S. Oceanic. Plate measures 18 cm diameter (7 inches) and apart from some paint loss, is in excellent original condition.
The R.M.S. Oceanic depicted here was a liner built for the White Star Line - her maiden voyage was in 1899. Until 1901, she was the largest ship in the world, and her route was from Liverpool or Southampton to New York and back. She cost one million pounds to build. When war broke out in 1914, she was commissioned into the Royal Navy as an armed merchant cruiser. She sailed from Scotland in August 1914 to patrol the waters from Scotland to the Faroes. She ran aground and was wrecked off the island of Foula, Shetland in September 1914.

Trench Art Brass Cigarette Lighter. Tall brass flick lighter, made from brass shell casing. Measures 10.5 cm high and 2 cm diameter (4.3/16 inch by 3/4 inch). It seems a bit gummed up - I can’t revolve the flint wheel, but I think this could be solved with penetrating oil or similar. Otherwise very good condition.

WWI Commemorative Mug, Milk Glass. An early 20th century milk glass mug, with moulded detail to bottom half of scrolls etc. Gilded highlights. Transfer decorated with a crest of the flags of England and France, with what looks like the Russian eagle and the Great Britain harp, lion and dragon crest on top. The motto reads "United to Assist".
Mug measures 7cm high (2.3/4 inches) and 7cm diameter (2,3.4 inches). Excellent condition.

WWI Cup, Saucer and Plate. Might in the Righ Very iconic World War One trio, with the flags of Britain, France, Belgium and Russia. It shows a war ship, a plane, a soldier with a rifle and bayonet, and a sailor with a sword. The banner reads "Might in the Right Cause Shall Prevail. European War 1914 & 15". So.... obviously they hadn’t got as far as 1916 through 18 yet. Gilded rims, made by Jackson & Gosling, Grosvenor China, England. Excellent condition. Thick hand-applied enamel highlights to the flags and sailor.

Resin Whales Tooth, Scrimshaw Decorated. A scrimshaw-decorated whales tooth, made in resin, as a copy of 18th or 19th century scrimshaw pieces. This one is hand decorated, and depicts the Stenrojjord (?) sailing ship on one side, with Captain Vincent and the American eagle on the other. Measures 9.5cm high (3.3/4 inches). Authentically yellowed and aged. Looks great.

Bronze Italian Soldiers Helmet Paperweight Little bronze paperweight, stamped "Federazione Provinciale di Napoli" on one end, and "Assoc Nazionale Combattenti". (Returned Soldiers Association or similar, WW1). Helmet measures 6.5 cm by 5 cm and about 3.5 cm high (2.1/2 inches by 2 inches and about 1.1/4 inches high). Excellent condition.

Vintage Wooden Rudder for Boat. Use this for real or as a decorative item on a wall. Old wooden rudder, measuring about 53 cm by 58.5 cm ( 21 inches by 23 inches ). Very good original condition, but if you want to fully restore it, it would take a sanding and re-varnishing very well.
