2434
Photo Frame, Boars Tusks, Silver Mounted. "Beatrice" is the name engraved on the little shield at the bottom of this most unusual frame. Standing 14cm high (5.1/2 inches), the frame is formed from boar’s tusks, with a ball and engraved silver plate mount at the top. At the bottom are two ball feet, and a beautifully engraved panel, bearing the shield mentioned above. The engraving is very Victorian/Edwardian period, being of scrolls at the bottom, and leaves and flowers at the top. There is an easel foot to the rear, and the round 10cm silver frame (4 inches) can be removed. At the rear top, there is also a loop so the frame can be hung on a wall. No hall marks on the silver,so I am assuming it is silver plate - but it has not been tested, and could possibly be sterling. Total frame is 13.5cm wide (5.1/4 inches). Excellent condition, but no glass.
