Victorian Mother of Pearl and Steel Stiletto. 19th century stiletto or awl - carved mother of pearl handle and steel lower. Measures measures 9.5 cm long (3.3/4 inches). Pretty handle is in excellent condition, the steel blade has some bloom and a little minor rust to the upper part. Used for embroiderie anglais.

Boot Pin Cushion, Brass, 19th Century. Delightful little early Victorian brass shoe - it has been a pin cushion, but the cushion bit is now missing - easy enough to make a new one. Nice detail - right down to the hob nails underneath the boot. Measures 5 cm high and 9 cm long (2 inches by 3.1/2 inches). Some lifting to the brass on the upper, and possibly an old repair to the heel. A real cutie.

Condition: Very Good - needs restuffing

Wooden Needle or Lead Case. Round wooden case with pull-off top. Came with thick pencil leads in it (still there), but could be used for needles also. Case measures 106 cm long and 11 mm diameter (4.3/16 inch by 7/16 inch). Very good condition. Early 20th century.

Hand Stitiched Tapestry Seat Cover. A cross stitch “tapestry” panel, made to cover a music stool. This has been worked in wool on commercial four-thread weave stiffened mesh, and was done in the 1960s. Background is a pinky beige. Never used after completion - excellent condition. Worked area measures 62.5cm by 32cm (24.5/8 inches by 12.5/8 inches - with a mesh border all around this.

Ivory 19th Century Tape Measure Case. A little 19th century ivory case that would have contained a tape measure - it has a small spindle in the top which unscrews. The top of this spindle is broken. Case measures 4cm (just over 1.1/2 inches) high and 2.5cm (1 inch) diameter.

Victorian Wool Work Tapestry, Framed. A Victorian period tapestry - late 19th century. The subject is large roses, surrounded by a border of leaves. Possibly made to be a stool seat or table screen panel. The roses are given texture by using finer and coarser stitches and wool. Generally, the pattern is worked in thicker wool, and the background in fine. There is a part of the black border where for some reason brown has been used. Oval panel measures 42 cm by 32 cm (16.1/2 inches by 12.1/2 inches). The whole, frames measures 66 cm by 52 cm (26 inches by 20.1/2 inches).
Very good condition overall - possibly some fading to roses colour. Beige mount, gold frame.

19th Century Bone Lace Bobbin. Beautiful polished bone pillow lace bobbin - the bead weights (spangles) at the top are orange glass, with a central larger green swirly-pattern bead. The bone has coloured spots of blue and red. Nicely polished by hands and time. Bobbin measures 9 cm long (3.1/2 inches). In very good condition - some natural small lines in the bone, and loss of colour to the spots, and a little very old minor bump at the spangles end.

Pillow Lace Bobbin. A late 19th century, or possibly early 20th century pillow lace bobbin - made in turned wood. It has a hold drilled through the end if you wanted to put weights on it (these were usually coloured glass beads strung on a loop of fine wire). Measures 88mm long (3.1/2 inches) and 6mm diameter (1/4 inch) at its widest point. Excellent condition.

Lacemakers Bobbin with Spangles. Pillow lace bobbin, East Midlands, England. Late 19th or early 20th century, still with some thread on it. The spangles are on copper wire, and have a large yellow horn bead, with the other beads being glass. Bobbin measures 9.5 cm long (3.3/4 inches) with out the spangles ring. 6 cm diameter at its widest point (1/2 inch). Stain on the wood, otherwise excellent condition.
