Large Photo Frame, Gilded Brass, Early 20th
A really lovely oval gilded-brass frame - quite large at 20.5 cm high (just over 8 inches). The top of the frame is surmounted by a ribbon-formed bow, and the frame itself is cut-rope beaded and cock beaded, so lovely detail to the work. It has an easel back, and dates from the early 20th century. In absolutely excellent condition. A real item of quality workmanship.

Pair Victorian Dumbbells.
Pair of Victorian period dumbbells, made in wood, with lead weights inserted. Dumbbells are each 18.5 cm long (7.1/4 inches). They each weigh approx. 780 grams. Condition is good - a few splits etc. in the turned ends, but very good for their age! Very decorative.

Carved from Coal, Welsh Terrace Cottages
A row of three little rumpty miner’s cottages, carved in Welsh coal. The label says " "Kingmaker" Hand made in Wales with real Welsh coal". Measures about 9 cm high and 10.8 cm wide (3.1/2 inches by 4.5/8 inches). One chimney stack has a chip, otherwise excellent condition.

Vintage Stampware Treen Lidded Container.
A little old stampware lidded pot - stampware is brother to tartanware and mauchlineware). Pot measures 7 cm high (2.3/4 inches) and about 7.7 cm diameter (about 3 inches). Condition is very good - a few little areas of design loss around the bottom rim otherwise very sound.

Miniature Tortoiseshell and Bone Tazza.
A little ring dish, made as a miniature tazza or comport - tortoiseshell top and bottom, and decorated bone stem. Measures 4.5cm high and 7cm diameter at top (1.3/4 inches by 2.3/4 inches). Excellent condition, but just a little loose. Would date from late Victorian to early 20th century.

Livery Buttons, Crested, Five.
Five old livery buttons - worn by servants on their livery, and bearing the crest of the household (Lion Rampant over bar in this case). Fronts are silvered metal, and the rear of the buttons are coppery looking. They are stamped with the maker’s name: "R.E.Hayward, 21 Bouverie St, London". Buttons are 26 mm diameter (1 inch) and have loop backs. We have 5 smaller identical buttons for sale elsewhere in this category. Excellent condition.
These buttons came out with one of the first Wanganui families here in New Zealand, who intended to recruit household servants from amongst the local population. However, the Maoris turned out to be not very servile, in fact outright against the idea, and they were never used.

A vintage nutcracker, made in the shape of two dancing girls. The figures look Thai or Indian, although the nutcracker has a British Regd. mark

Set 8 Metal and Ceramic Drawer Handles.
8 drawer pulls - each is 12.75 cm wide ( 5 inches) and 1.9 cm deep (3/4 inch). They stand out by about 1 inch from the drawer surface. Metal looks sort of brassy, but it’s not brass. The centre ceramic section is a beige colour. These are quite some years old but stamped on the rear is "Taiwan". They are all in very good used condition (i.e. metal is rather dull) and there is just one which has a tiny short hairline on the ceramic bit - but it is quite sound, and only mentioned for accuracy On one, the ceramic part could do with regluing to the metal rod.

Pretty brass plated (probably) drop-handle style drawer pulls. Art Nouveau/Edwardian style with central flower and leaves. Handles measure 8.5 cm wide and 2.6 cm high (3.3/8 inches by 1 inch).

Vintage Cloisonne Napkin Ring.
Cloisonné on brass Chinese napkin ring, yellow bird with pink, green and blue flowers on black cloud background with blue border. Turquoise enamel inside. Good heavy weight. Measures 2.8 cm high and 5.2 cm diameter (1.1/8 inches high and 2 inches diameter). Excellent condition outer - inside has a little marking on lower edge. If you use napkin rings, especially with guests staying, cloisonne rings are excellent, since they are all different, but uniformly attractive. Everyone will recognize the one they have been given, and it saves a lot of sorting out of table napkins!

Brass Faced Pocket Balance Scales.
A vintage pocket balance scales, weighing in lbs. Smaller size, measuring 18.5cm long ( 7.1/4 inches) from top of ring to bottom of hook. Face is 3.2cm wide (1.1/4 inches). Brass face. Some distress to paint at rear, but in good, sound condition. Weighs to 25lbs.

Large Lump of Kauri Gum, Amber.
Kauri gum - the resin from petrified New Zealand kauri trees that has been recovered from the swamps where the kauri trees once grew - amber by another name. It was very popular in the 19th and early 20th century for all number of things, including jewellery -making. Polished, it has a rich golden glow.
This large lump measures roughly 10.5 cm x 14 cm x 12 cm (4 inches by 5.1/2 inches by 4.3/4 inches).

Cute little two-up-two-down with lean-to Welsh terrace cottage, hand carved in Wales from Welsh coal.
Measures 5.6 cm high and 3 cm wide (2.1/4 inches by 1.1/4 inches). Excellent condition. Little souvenir of Wales. Felt bottom.
