C9779

Silver Plate Teapot, Victorian Period. Beautiful design to this teapot - it is in the Georgian style, and has a 10 sided, concave curved-panel body, chased with pretty designs of hanging baskets of flowers, floral borders and rather Moorish design top border. Handle and finial are ebony wood, and handle has the thumbstop carved curl at the top. Maker’s mark is A & N C S L. Teapot measures 16.5 cm high, 28 cm wide, and about 12.5 cm deep (6.1/2 inches by 11 inches by 5 inches). The silver plate is in excellent condition, with no sign of wear. The handle has been reattached, the is clear evidence of this at both ends of it where glue can be noted (it is now quite solid and sound), and there is a very slight curl to one edge of the lid. Altogether a stunning-looking teapot.

C10050

Pair Sheffield Plate Telescopic Candlesticks. Getting rarer - telescopic candlesticks. This pair of old Sheffield Plate sticks have applied decoration of flowers and scrolls around the bottom foot, and detachable sconces with the same design. Height of sticks when in "down" position is 19.5 cm - open, they are 24 cm high (7.3/4 inches to 9.1/2 inches). One is a bit stiff to pull out, but some penetrating oil should cure that. They are in very good condition, but there is quite a lot of copper bleed showing - on one much more than the other. Weighted. The bottom felt is absent - can easily be replaced.
Circa: Mid to Late 19th Century
Condition: Very good - some bleed.
