Publisher: I.K.Marvel, published by Bobbs-Merril Co
Hardback book by I.K. Marvel, entitled "Reveries of a Bachelor" - illustrations and page decorations by E.M. Ashe. I.K. Marvel was the pseudonym of Donald G. Mitchell (1822- 1908). A very popular best seller at the time.
Ashe was a well known illustrator, and the colour plates are very good. "Reveries" was first published in book form in 1850. This version with the Ashe illustrations was published 1906 by Bobbs-Merill Company, Indianapolis.
This book: No. of pages: 338. 16 colour plates plus one on the cover. Two pages still retain their hand-cut edges. Book measures 21 cm. by 14 cm.
Excellent condition cover and spine with just a tiny amount of scuff to corners - no dust dulling. Light foxing to page edges when book is closed, mainly on top and front. Some minor foxing inside, mainly to pages before the preface. Otherwise very tight and good condition. |
