Large Powder Horn. 19th century powder horn, made from a horn. (For carrying gunpowder to load a shotgun or rifle). Has pull out plug in tip end to pour out the powder, and both the tip and the other end have attachment for a cord or similar which would have enabled the user to carry this over his shoulder. The plug is a nicely carved piece of horn also. The far end has a wood end piece covered with red felt (worn) and a brass or copper plate with O ring. Horn is a large one, at about 35 cm wide (13.3/4 inches).
