M384

Large Antique Stoneware Hot Water Bottle, Denby. Bed warmer, foot warmer or hot water bottle for you bed, this large Victorian stoneware bottle was once a winter must-have. Impressed 3-row mark "Bourne Denby Derby". Curly leaf design around the filler, and on the brown handle. Impressed mark of "20.t" and "L". Item measures 26.5 cm long plus the carrying knob of 4 cm. It is 18 cm high including the filler plug, and 13 cm deep. All there - the plug still screws in well, but the rubber bung has solidified, and would probably need to be renewed. One small circular crack on the brown end edge, but overall in very good condition, a very nice example. Would make a good door-stop. Weighs a hefty 2.55 kilos.
Circa: Late 1800s
Condition: Used
Country of Origin: GB
Manufacturer: Denby, Bourne
