11788

Vintage Large Radio, Wooden Case. Valve radio, made by the Akrad Radio Corporation of Waihi, New Zealand. Large size for a table radio, measuring 60 cm wide, 26 cm deep and 36.5 cm high. Art Deco styling. Nice wood grain, would come up very well with polishing. It has short-wave also, and NZ radio stations listed. The radio still turns on, but one of the valves flickers, and one needs a new valve. The inside has quite a bit of storage dust and cobwebs. I know nothing about the workings of radios, but if you are a collector or knowledgeable in this field, then this is a handsome radio worthy of a restoration, clean-out and a polish-up. Circa 1930s-50s.
Buyer to arrange shipping.
Circa: 1930s-50s

E10613

Pair 19th Century Carriage Lamps. Pair of black and brass English carriage lamps, both converted to electricity. Bevelled glass, pagoda shaped air vents at top, silver plate on copper reflectors internally (need polishing), and brass surrounds to the glass. Red circular small glass panels at one side (the side with the door) - this was the rear of the light, but you need access to the door, so if hanging on a wall, it would become the side. Left and right sided lamps. They each measure 40.6 cm long and the tops are approx. 14 cm square. Original condition. Legally, they will have to be rewired. Some paint chips (easily touched up), other age signs. There are no brackets with them. These are not spotless polished new-looking lamps. They have seen age wear and use, and date from the mid to late 1800s. You could restore them - a great project.
Circa: Mid to late 1800s.

10066

Silver Rimmed Tea Caddy made from Nut. Interesting small tea caddy made from a very large nut casing. The front is incised and filled with enamels "Te Mate" with a picture of a teapot, cup and sugar done in similar manner. Mexican? South American? Certainly Spanish. The rim of the top opening is silver, stamped "Gato" and 600 (the silver content). Whole measures 87 mm diameter and 51 mm thick (about 3.1/2 inches and 2 inches thick). Presumably it once had a cork or similar for the opening. Maybe a gaucho's tea caddy?

Click for more detail...

C13370

Inlaid Marquetry Small Box, Cottage Scene, Signed. Marquetry inlaid scene decorates the lid of this small rounded corner wooden box. The box has no seams to the side or back, being hollowed out of one piece of wood with an added base. Same applies to the lid of the box. Inside the lid is "Irish Handwork. A cabin by the Galway Mountains". The signature on the marquetry is Bailey. Box measures 6 cm high and 10.8 cm wide by 8.2 cm deep (2.3/8 inches by 4.1/4 inches by 3.1/4 inches). Inside the lid, the varnish over the sign is uneven (looks like a little melted, but isn't). The veneer on the lid is lifting a little (you can feel it with your fingers), but all is there, and overall, the box is in very good condition and presents well.
Circa: Mid 20th Century
Condition: Very Good, see description
Country of Origin: IE
